Fans hoping to see The New Day shock the wrestling world at AEW Double or Nothing tonight probably need to pump the brakes.

After Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods left WWE, speculation exploded online about a possible AEW appearance, especially with growing backstage excitement reportedly building around the idea of the legendary tag team eventually joining the company.

Now Fightful Select is reporting there is “almost no chance” of either man appearing at Double or Nothing tonight.

“There is almost no chance of New Day or Aleister Black showing up at AEW Double or Nothing tonight.”

The update also shut down speculation that Kingston and Woods may have become immediately available because of outside appearances and convention bookings.

“We had some asking if Xavier Woods and Austin Creed doing a convention this month opened them up to working for AEW early. It does not.”

The report comes shortly after PWInsider revealed there is already major excitement inside AEW over the possibility of The New Day eventually arriving in the company. One of the biggest reasons? The long-discussed dream match against The Young Bucks that fans have wanted for years.

Several people connected to AEW have already talked internally about finally delivering the match after years of teasing it across interviews and social media. At this point, nothing has been officially confirmed regarding Kingston and Woods signing with AEW. But the interest behind the scenes is clearly real.

AEW Double or Nothing takes place tonight from Queens, New York. Even though New Day apparently will not be walking through the curtain tonight, the possibility of them eventually landing in AEW is still one of the hottest topics in wrestling right now.

Do you think The New Day should eventually join AEW, and would The Young Bucks vs. New Day instantly become one of the biggest tag matches possible? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
