Paige is drawing a hard line after a collector tracked her flight and waited at her connecting gate with dozens of photos. The WWE Superstar says the airport encounter went way beyond a normal autograph request.
Speaking to TMZ Sports outside LAX, Paige explained that she is usually relaxed when people approach her for signatures. This situation was different because the man appeared to know her private travel details.
“I’m usually pretty chill about it, honestly. I’m like, whatever.”
Paige said the collector purchased an airline ticket just to get through security and reach her connecting gate in Chicago. That meant he knew her flight, where she was connecting and when she would land.
“This guy bought a ticket to go through to meet me at my connecting gate, so he knew my flight, he knew where I was connecting through, and he knew what time I was landing, which is so fucking weird. It’s too far.”
Things got even stranger when Paige saw how much merchandise the collector brought. She said he was waiting with approximately 30 photos for her to sign—and even he admitted the situation was weird.
“So he’s waiting outside for me, and he has like 30 pictures, and I’m like, ‘Bro, this is really strange.’ And he was like, ‘I know, it’s weird.’”
Paige suspects someone connected to the airline may have disclosed her travel information. She made it clear that her frustration isn’t about refusing to meet people or sign autographs. Her problem is being tracked to private locations where wrestlers are trying to travel or rest. The former champion pointed out that WWE events and scheduled meet-and-greets already give people appropriate opportunities to meet wrestlers.
“We have meet-and-greets. We tell you where we’re going to be at the arenas. Come to the arena, come to a meet-and-greet, but don’t turn up at my hotel, don’t turn up at my connecting gate, and even so, don’t turn up at the airport, because a lot of wrestlers hate that.”
Paige is happy to sign autographs, but tracking her flight and buying a ticket to reach her gate crossed a serious boundary. Wrestlers may be public figures, but that doesn’t make their hotels, flights and connecting gates public appearances.
