Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are out of WWE, and that means one of the most important tag team runs in modern WWE history is officially over.

After both men were moved to the Alumni section of WWE’s website, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that Kingston and Woods had mutually decided to part ways with the company.

"New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have mutually decided to part ways with WWE, Fightful Select and @Cory_Hays407 of Bodyslam have learned."

That’s a massive exit. Kingston and Woods helped turn The New Day into one of WWE’s biggest acts of the last decade, alongside Big E. The group became multiple-time tag team champions, held the record for the longest tag team title reign in WWE history, and turned a rocky debut into one of the company’s most successful acts. With his exit, his 16-year run in WWE has come to an end.

Kofi’s run also included one of WWE’s biggest feel-good moments ever when he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. Woods carved out his own legacy as well, winning King of the Ring and becoming a key part of WWE’s crossover presence through gaming, media, and UpUpDownDown.

So this isn’t just two names leaving the roster. This is WWE losing two major pieces of its modern identity. Now the big question is what comes next for Kingston and Woods — whether they stay together, go separate ways, or take The New Day legacy somewhere WWE can’t control it.
