Grayson Waller didn’t just call out Cruz Montana during his surprise return to WWE NXT. He took a shot at TNA itself—and it didn’t take long for Moose to answer back.

Waller made his return on the July 28 episode of NXT with a blistering promo, tearing into Austin Theory, the NXT locker room and anyone else who got in his way. But one comment in particular quickly grabbed attention. After bringing up Cruz Montana, Waller dismissed his accomplishments in TNA with a brutal comparison.

“It ain’t 2005, lad. Being the top guy in TNA is like being the best basketball player at the local YMCA. I’m not impressed.”

The line immediately became one of the most talked-about moments from the segment as clips spread everywhere. Eventually, they landed in front of Moose. The TNA veteran didn’t post a lengthy explanation or start an online argument as he took to Twitter and answered Waller with one sentence that pretty much put the Australian star in his place.

“Bet if he gets fired he will be BEGGING AND PRAYING for a job at the same local YMCA.”

That one post completely changed the conversation. Waller returned to NXT hoping everyone would be talking about his championship ambitions and the chaos he caused inside the ring. Instead, fans found themselves arguing over something else entirely: whether he’d gone too far taking a shot at TNA, and whether Moose had just embarrassed him with a single response.

One throwaway line was all it took to drag another promotion into the story—and Moose made sure Waller wasn’t the last one laughing.

Whose comeback landed harder: Grayson Waller’s original jab or Moose’s response? Let us know what you think in the comments.
