Mike Santana didn’t say where he’s going next, but he may have just told everyone when to start watching.
After reports claimed Santana is finished with TNA and his contract is set to expire, he jumped on Twitter on July 8 with a simple post that only said one thing. That was it. No caption. No explanation. No company name. Just a date.
“7/15”
Of course, the timing is what makes it interesting. Santana just lost the TNA World Championship to Nic Nemeth at Slammiversary, and it was previously reported that his TNA deal was set to expire in the coming days. The same report also noted that Santana was not expected at TNA’s upcoming TV tapings in Albany, New York.
So when Santana drops “7/15” right in the middle of all that, fans are naturally going to wonder if July 15 is the day he officially becomes a free agent.
WWE interest has already been part of the story, too. Santana has appeared on NXT through the WWE-TNA relationship, and reports have indicated that WWE has remained interested in him for a while and he was WWE-bound after Slammiversary.
Santana’s TNA exit wasn’t booked like someone being quietly pushed out either. His Slammiversary loss involved Ryan Nemeth getting involved, the Call Your Shot trophy busting him open, and Santana continuing to fight until the blood loss caught up with him. Nic Nemeth walked out champion, but Santana still left looking like a serious player.
Now, that one date has made everything feel even closer. Santana may not have confirmed WWE, free agency, or his next move yet, but “7/15” sure looks like a signal that something is coming fast.
