Mick Foley is already enjoying his first day in AEW before officially making his Double or Nothing debut.
Just hours before AEW Double or Nothing, Foley took to Instagram and uploaded a backstage photo featuring himself alongside AEW stars including Kazuchika Okada, Orange Cassidy, Harley Cameron, and Darby Allin. Foley made it clear he was having a great time before joining the Double or Nothing Buy In pre-show.
“FIRST DAY ON THE JOB! Having a blast with @aew – looking forward to a great #DoubleOrNothing …still rocking my @thecrystalgayle T & @mollyspartan flannel!”
Foley had already confirmed that he would be making his AEW debut on the Double or Nothing Buy In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette. The Hardcore Legend shared his excitement about finally appearing for the company after years of speculation.
“FOLEY IS ALL ELITE! I am extremely happy to be making my debut with @aew – joining @reneepaquette on the #DoubleOrNothing pre-show. Looking forward to seeing @tonyrkhan for the first time in many years (we had lunch fifteen years ago) and meeting up with AEW’s amazing roster.”
Tony Khan later explained during the AEW Double or Nothing media call that Foley’s current AEW role is focused on broadcasting, not an in-ring return. Khan said AEW does not want to pressure Foley into wrestling and wants to use him in a way that makes sense for him. According to Khan, Foley has shown interest in helping AEW moving forward, and the company expects him to be involved with all AEW pay-per-views along with select television appearances.
For now, Foley’s AEW run is beginning behind the desk rather than inside the ring, but his backstage post shows he is already settling in with the roster. His arrival gives AEW a major veteran presence heading into Double or Nothing and could open the door for more appearances beyond the pre-show.
