Mercedes Moné didn’t say a word after losing on the August 5 edition of AEW Dynamite. She didn’t have to. Instead, the former AEW TBS Champion let her social media do the talking.
Shortly after Wednesday night’s loss to Willow Nightingale, fans noticed Moné had completely blacked out both her Twitter and Instagram profiles. Her profile photos were replaced with solid black images, and her header banners were changed to black as well, leaving both accounts almost entirely stripped of their usual branding.
The sudden change came just hours after Moné was pinned in a six-woman tag team match, where she teamed with AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions Divine Dominion against Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor. Nightingale scored the victory after countering the Moné Maker into a backslide.
While Moné hasn’t addressed the changes, longtime fans know this isn’t the first time she’s dramatically changed her social media following a major loss or storyline development. With both of her biggest accounts now completely blacked out, it didn’t take long for fans to start wondering what comes next, especially with AEW All In London going down in a little over three weeks.
Whether the blackout is simply a personal decision or the start of something bigger remains to be seen. For now, though, Mercedes Moné has gone completely dark online just hours after one of her biggest defeats in recent months.
