Chelsea Green finally got the last laugh at SummerSlam after dedicating her big win to Michael Hayes. Her husband already thinks he’s going to pay for it.
Fresh off winning the Interim WWE Women’s Championship, Green made sure to use her post-show interview to dedicate the biggest victory of her WWE career to longtime producer Michael “PS” Hayes—the same man whose comments on WWE Unreal left her feeling like WWE had put a ceiling on what she could become.
The moment didn’t take long to spread online. Neither did Matt Cardona’s reaction. Seeing his wife’s comments make the rounds, the former WWE star jumped on Twitter with a response that suggested he was already bracing for the fallout.
“I’m gonna get heat for this somehow.”
It was a very Cardona response. While Green was celebrating championship gold, Cardona was joking that he’d somehow end up catching the blame despite not saying a word during the interview.
Green’s jab at Hayes carried extra weight because of what happened on WWE Unreal. During the Netflix series, Hayes described Green as someone better suited to elevating other stars than being positioned as a top-tier main event talent. Green later admitted those remarks stung, saying it was frustrating to hear that mindset publicly confirmed.
Fast-forward to SummerSlam, and she was standing on one of WWE’s biggest stages with championship gold around her waist. That’s why her dedication landed the way it did.
Now, Cardona has added his own chapter to the story with one tweet that wrestling fans instantly understood. Whether he actually catches any heat for it is another story.
