Lola Vice left more than the ring on the August 4 episode of WWE NXT. She left her gloves behind too. After falling short against Kendal Grey in the main event for the NXT Women’s Championship, Vice didn’t head straight to the back when the show went off the air. Instead, she stayed in the ring, looked around the WWE Performance Center one last time and gave the crowd the kind of goodbye that felt like everyone already knew what comes next.
Before she could even say a word, Damian Priest walked out. The surprise appearance brought the crowd to its feet as Priest embraced his girlfriend in the middle of the ring before stepping aside and letting her have the moment.
Then, with the audience hanging on every word, Vice laid her gloves in the center of the ring—a wrestling tradition that almost always signals the end of a chapter. She started by giving all the credit to the woman who had just beaten her.
“Adios, NXT. Kendal Grey tapped me out. She’s the future. She’s incredible.”
The emotions only grew from there. Vice reflected on the last four years, admitting the road through NXT wasn’t always easy. There were moments she questioned whether she belonged, moments where she struggled, and moments where she wasn’t sure the leap of faith she’d taken was ever going to pay off. Looking back now, though, she says she’d do it all again.
“I’m so proud of what I was able to do in NXT. I’ve been here four years. I took a leap of faith. Sometimes I didn’t think it was for me. I struggled a lot. But I always believed in myself and all of you. Every Tuesday inspired me to keep going and represent us Latinos.”
With the crowd cheering her on, Vice brought the speech to a close the only way she could: “So I just wanna say thank you, everybody, and forever, we are NXT.” If the speech felt like a farewell, that’s because it probably was.
Bryan Alvarez previously reported that Vice had been called up and is expected to join Friday Night SmackDown, and Tuesday night’s post-show scene only made that belief even stronger. From Damian Priest’s surprise appearance to the gloves left behind in the ring, everything about the moment felt like NXT was saying goodbye to one of its own before she heads to WWE’s main roster.
Nothing has been officially announced by WWE yet. But after Tuesday night, it certainly feels like Lola Vice has already wrestled her last match in NXT.
