The August 4 episode of WWE NXT featured a unique championship match as Kendal Grey defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Lola Vice in an NXT Underground match, fighting through a bloody head injury in the process.

Kendal Grey pulled off the most impressive victory of her career as she toppled Lola Vice in a match that the former NXT Women’s Champion has made her own. With no ropes and victory only possible by knockout or submission, the title bout promised to be one of the toughest tests of Grey’s reign.

Lola Vice entered the match with plenty of momentum, having built an undefeated record in NXT Underground competition. She wanted to use her experience in the brutal stipulation to capture the NXT Women’s Championship.

This match was the main event of the night. The contest had a big fight feel, thanks to Mike Rome’s ring introductions. The NXT Arena was more than ready for this match, and the show had about twelve minutes left as the bell sounded to start the showdown.

The NXT roster surrounded the ring as Lola Vice and Kendal Grey tried to get the upperhand on each other. There was no rope break, so the holds needed to be broken in another way. Eventually, the two fought on the floor and used the announce table to their advantage. Then, the two fought on the NXT Arena floor for a bit. Kendal went for a dive on Lola, but she moved out of the way, and Grey bounced off the steel steps. Blood started pouring from Kendal’s ear as they cut of commercial break.

NXT’s medical staff surrounded the Women’s Champion as they tended to her. Wren Sinclair was also by Grey’s side as the champion finally snapped and said, “I got it! I got it!” before she wrapped her own head and got back in the match.

Kendal Grey was out of it, as it was difficult for her to stay on her feet. Lola Vice stalked her from that point, but Grey held on. Kendal started to fight back as it appeared that she was gearing up for her finisher, but Lola Vice shut her down again. She locked Kendal in an ankle lock, but the champion fought out of it. Then, Lola Vice latched a rear-naked choke for a bit. Lola took off her gloves after that, and then she accidentally took out the referee with a backhand shot.

Kendal was out, even though Lola Vice had her beat. Wren Sinclair slapped Grey to get her back into the fight, which worked. Grey nailed a Superkick, but then Lola returned fire. Suddenly, Kendal Grey locked on an armbar and eventually got the submission. This was a massive win, and it only cemented her as a big name for the brand.
