Dixie Carter will not be part of Dark Side of the Ring’s upcoming TNA Wrestling documentary series.
According to PWInsider, Carter turned down multiple invitations to participate in the three-part TNA-focused season of Dark Side of the Ring despite her massive role in the company’s history.
Carter served as TNA president from 2002 through 2017 after her family’s company, Panda Energy, stepped in and saved the promotion financially when its original investor pulled out during a major fraud scandal.
While Carter declined involvement, several major names from TNA history did participate. Jeff Jarrett reportedly sat for extensive interviews, while Jim Cornette, Vince Russo, and The Hardy Boyz also contributed.
Matt Hardy later revealed on his podcast that both he and Jeff Hardy spent more than two hours each being interviewed for the series. Hardy also hinted that the documentary presents Jarrett’s story as somewhat of a redemption arc.
“We talked about how Jeff Jarrett came out the other end in a much better place and how he has gained everyone’s respect from what he has done.”
The new season of Dark Side of the Ring premieres July 7 on Vice TV and kicks off with the first two parts of the TNA trilogy airing back-to-back.
Beyond TNA, the season will also cover stories involving Paul Orndorff, Ray Traylor, Missy Hyatt, Zach Gowen, and the infamous Samoa Joe vs. Necro Butcher IWA-MS Match.
Even without Dixie Carter involved, the TNA episodes already sound like they’re going to pull back the curtain on one of wrestling’s wildest eras.
Do you think Dixie Carter should have participated in the documentary, or is it better she stayed away from revisiting that era publicly? Leave your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
