Keith Lee’s return to social media apparently wasn’t pointing toward a wrestling comeback. His involvement with Darius J. Wright’s AYDA program is very real, and it may explain why Lee is believed to have stepped away from the ring.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez addressed Lee resurfacing alongside Wright and promoting AYDA, which stands for “Awaken Your Dormant Abilities.” Alvarez said he was specifically told this wasn’t some kind of wrestling character or angle.
“He touted an AYDA, Awaken Your Dormant Abilities. So all I can tell you is that whatever this is with Keith Lee, it’s not some gimmick.”
More importantly, Alvarez connected it directly to his previous report about Lee being believed to have retired. He said AYDA was brought up when he was given that information, with Lee described as fully invested in what Wright is doing.
“When I talked about the belief that he retired, I was told about this. That being that whatever this AYDA is, whoever this Darius J. Wright is, I was told Keith is all in on this. He is all in.”
“If you wanna say he’s joined a cult, exploring his consciousness… It’s not a gimmick. He’s deeply into this, and that appears to be his foreseeable future.”
Lee hadn’t posted on social media in almost a year before appearing with Wright on September 11. Fans quickly looked into Wright, who describes himself as a consciousness explorer focused on out-of-body experiences and investigating what he calls non-physical reality. That’s when accusations of Lee joining a “cult” started appearing.
“You joined a cult my guy. The site you’re promoting asks for money in order put faith in the ‘shared beliefs’. This is no different then those televangelists asking for ‘seed money’ back in the day. I hope you get proper help man ik life ain’t easy rn but this ain’t it.”
Wright’s “The Great Work” offers a $300 AYDA path involving teachings about awareness moving beyond the physical body. A $500 option adds material covering different realms, the “structure of reality,” the origins of what Wright calls “this construct” and “remembrance.”
Lee hasn’t wrestled since December 2023, leaving his future hanging over AEW for more than two years. The latest information now provides some context for why retirement became the belief within wrestling rather than another eventual return.
Bottom line: fans spent years waiting to find out what Keith Lee would do next. His first real sign of an answer has finally arrived, and it appears his attention has moved far beyond professional wrestling.
