It’s not every day a brand-new WWE NXT star gets public backing from a legend like John Cena, but that’s exactly what happened after Will Kroos made his shocking debut on the April 28 episode of WWE NXT.

Kroos made an immediate impact during a segment involving Tony D’Angelo, who was addressing the crowd as NXT Champion and boasting that nobody could take his spot at the top. That moment quickly turned chaotic when multiple attackers targeted D’Angelo, including Kroos, who arrived out of nowhere and delivered a moonsault before standing tall over the champion.

Cena reacted publicly on X, quote-posting a video of Kroos’ attack and referencing the chant fans used for Kroos during his time wrestling overseas. After sharing the clip, Cena echoed the chant that helped Kroos build his reputation on the European wrestling scene.

“HE'S BIG…. HE'S BAD…. HE'LL BODYSLAM YOUR DAD!!! 🔥🔥🔥”

That endorsement immediately gave Kroos a major spotlight moment, especially considering Cena rarely singles out brand-new talent so directly.

During the broadcast itself, Kroos’ arrival caught viewers — and even commentary — off guard. Vic Joseph questioned whether a fan had jumped into the ring when the chaos first unfolded, highlighting just how unexpected Kroos’ debut was.

The segment didn’t just feature Kroos, either. EVIL also made his WWE NXT debut during the same sequence, followed by an attack from Tavion Heights, before Kroos delivered the final blow with his moonsault on D’Angelo.

Before arriving in WWE, Kroos built his reputation primarily overseas, competing for major independent promotions like PROGRESS Wrestling and Revolution Pro Wrestling, while also working in Japan for Pro Wrestling Noah.

With Kroos already making waves after just one appearance — and now drawing attention from John Cena — the pressure is on to see how WWE follows up on this introduction.

What did you think of Will Kroos’ debut, and do you think John Cena’s public support will help fast-track his push in WWE? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
