AJ Lee’s latest WWE return appears to be on pause, and a new update sheds more light on what’s next for the former Divas Champion.
After wrapping up a short run that included several matches with Becky Lynch and a high-profile appearance at WrestleMania 42, new details suggest Lee is currently finished with this phase of her comeback. While her recent Instagram message hinted that her time might be winding down, the latest report confirms that nothing new is planned for her in the immediate future.
During WrestleVotes Radio, sources revealed that Lee has completed her current stretch with WWE and is not booked for upcoming appearances. The report made it clear that this isn’t considered the end of her WWE involvement, but fans may have to wait before seeing her again.
“According to sources, AJ Lee has wrapped up her current run with the company and as of now isn't scheduled for anything in the near future. We're told her return isn't officially considered over, but there is some caution that it could be a while before we see her back in action again.”
The update also introduced the only possible timeline being discussed internally. While nothing has been finalized, there is some hope that Lee could be worked into a major summer storyline if plans come together.
“One source did speculate they're hopeful a SummerSlam program materializes, although no further details were available regarding the possibility of this at that time.”
Her recent run was also summarized during the discussion, pointing out that her WrestleMania match with Becky Lynch appears to have served as the natural stopping point for now.
“So she has come in, returned, wrestled a few matches mainly with Becky Lynch, takes a loss at WrestleMania and now, according to a source, isn't coming up anytime soon.”
Despite her current absence from upcoming plans, the tone surrounding her run suggested this was likely designed to be temporary from the start rather than a full-time return. “I think it's somebody that she wanted to come back. She didn't want to have to be full time. And it was a decent length run September through April.”
