Jim Cornette just turned one fan’s blocked account complaint into a full-blown political flame war.
It started when a fan said Cornette had blocked him simply because he publicly admitted voting for Donald Trump. The fan made it clear he still respects Cornette’s wrestling brain, even if they do not line up politically.
“This is simply because I voted for President Trump and made it known publicly. Still a fan of Jim. Still support the guy. And even though we don’t fully align on politics (we do on SOME topics) — I still think he’s one of the most logical men when it comes to professional wrestling.”
Jim Cornette saw it, unblocked him, and basically said he only did it so he could remind the guy exactly why he was blocked in the first place.
“OK, I’ve unblocked you to remind you that it’s not my fault you chose to reveal you voted for (or fell for) Shitler. That means part of the responsibility for all that has happened is yours, and I’ll never forgive you or anyone else for being such suckers. YOU CAUSED THIS.”
That response lit the fuse immediately. Cornette had already been going after Trump after the Supreme Court shut down Trump’s birthright citizenship order. He joked that if America was going to start revoking citizenship, Trump and his family should be first in line. So this fan walking into the conversation with a Trump vote admission was basically throwing gasoline on an already-burning fire. The backlash came pretty fast. One fan defended the Trump voter and accused Cornette of being blinded by Trump derangement, writing:
“Classy response. Don’t let the TDS-afflicted guilt you into following their manic ideas. You are a good person with good intentions for our country. We elected Trump to do a job and he has done it exceedingly well. People like Corny will forever be deluded and butthurt.”
Another fan went much harder at Jim Cornette personally, saying his attitude is exactly why some people voted for Donald Trump in the first place.
“You are such a performative hateful prick. You understand people like you are why people voted in people like him? Because of your holier than thou pompous prick attitude toward everyone. If your personality matched your talent maybe you would actually change minds.”
Others mocked Cornette for blocking people over politics at all. One fan wrote, “@TheJimCornette blocks people about politics? What an old woman with hurty feelings.” Another dragged Cornette even further, saying:
“He’s legitimately a child. F*** him. He was a great mouth during the golden age but other than that, he’s just a grifter. Either he’s smart enough to know he’s full of s***and does it anyway or he doesn’t know he’s full of shit and he’s dumber than I thought.”
So yeah, Cornette did not just block a Trump voter and move on. He unblocked him, fired off one more shot, blamed him for what he sees happening in the country, and then watched the replies turn into exactly the kind of political cage match Twitter was built for.
Cornette has never been shy about hating Trump, and this latest exchange proves he is not interested in making peace with fans who voted for him either. For Cornette, this is not just a disagreement. He sees it as blame, responsibility, and something he says he will not forgive.
