Nikki Bella went straight for the personal stuff on WWE SmackDown — taking a savage shot at Chelsea Green by suggesting even her husband might want an “upgrade.”
The wild jab came during the October 9, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown, as Nikki and Chelsea got into it backstage over the WWE Women’s Championship. Chelsea tried to dismiss Nikki as jealous because Green is currently the one holding the gold, but Nikki fired back by saying Chelsea’s title reign was destined to fail before making the whole thing extremely personal.
“You’re nothing but a bootleg Nikki Bella. And I think that WWE Women’s Championship deserves an upgrade to the real thing. I mean, ask your husband. I’m sure he wants one too.”
That last line was the real bomb. Nikki wasn’t just saying Chelsea’s championship reign needed an upgrade. She was very clearly implying that Chelsea’s husband might want an upgrade from Chelsea herself.
Chelsea’s husband, Matt Cardona, wasn’t involved in the segment at all, which made the shot even more vicious. Nikki simply dragged him into the argument to twist the knife and make sure Chelsea knew this wasn’t going to stay limited to wrestling. Before dropping the husband line, Nikki had already warned Chelsea that she plans to take her championship after dealing with Paige.
“What I do to her is exactly what I’m gonna do to you when I take away your title.”
But the title threat almost became secondary once Nikki brought Chelsea’s marriage into it. There’s talking trash about someone’s championship reign, and then there’s telling them their own husband might want someone better. Nikki Bella chose the second option, and that one line instantly made her issues with Chelsea Green a whole lot more personal.
