Jim Cornette isn’t holding anything back, and he’s now the loudest voice reacting to the growing controversy surrounding Zoe Hines’ WWE signing.
Cornette took to Twitter and reacted to the Zoe Hines situation after reports surfaced about how she landed in WWE, and he didn’t just criticize the move; he tore into it. Cornette essentially painted the signing as politically driven and went as far as suggesting the controversy alone could make Hines the biggest heel in wrestling right out of the gate.
“Besides the obvious fact that S**tler and his band of criminal misfits are determined to f*** up everything that exists with their lunatic bulls**t, this satanic spawn of Black Sheep Kennedy could be the biggest heel ever in wrestling, the ‘Ultimate Nepobaby’.”
That reaction didn’t come out of nowhere. It follows claims from Dave Meltzer, who said on Wrestling Observer Radio that Hines’ signing wasn’t your typical tryout success story. According to Meltzer, WWE was pushed into bringing her in due to political connections involving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Linda McMahon—both tied to Donald Trump’s cabinet. Meltzer claimed this wasn’t sudden either. Internally, he said the move had been expected for months, possibly even a year, and people within WWE weren’t exactly thrilled about it.
“I certainly heard a lot about Zoe Hines I would say six months ago, and it was very much this is one that was politically forced on them. She's a real athlete, she's a softball player. When she had her tryout, it's not like she knocked them dead or even knocked them even. It was very much said it was a forced hiring because of who she was and because of Robert F. Kennedy and Linda McMahon both being in the cabinet… I had heard people very much dreading knowing this. As far as like the hiring of her, I would say it was probably known easily a year ago that it was inevitable this would happen… Everyone can approve, you never know, but it was one of those where the people who knew and seen and everything like that had told me it was a hire they were dreading because it was a forced one. Anyway, it's now official but it's been official for a long, long time.”
Hines, a Boston College softball player, was introduced as part of WWE NXT’s newest rookie class after Kennedy revealed the signing during an event with McMahon, even crediting her for helping make it happen. At the time, it looked like a standard athlete-to-WWE story. Now? Not so much.
Between the backstage claims and Cornette lighting it up publicly, Hines walks into WWE with a lot of attention already on her—and not the kind most rookies want. Fair or not, the narrative has shifted from opportunity to controversy. If she delivers, this noise could die down fast. If not, the label Cornette threw out there might stick.
Do you think Zoe Hines can shut down the criticism and prove she belongs in WWE, or is this controversy going to follow her from the start? Let us know.
