Stephanie Vaquer just had one of the biggest moments of her career in front of her home-country fans. Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to win the WWE Women’s World Championship at WWE’s live event in Santiago, Chile, on September 12, 2026, beginning her second reign with the title.
Becky Lynch served as the special guest referee, and she ended up playing a massive role in how the championship changed hands. Morgan appeared to have the match won after hitting Oblivion and covering Vaquer, but Lynch suddenly stopped her count at two and flipped Morgan off instead of finishing the three-count.
That opened the door for Vaquer. She took advantage of the chaos, connected with the SVB and followed it with the Vaquer Inferno to put Morgan away and capture the championship in front of the Chilean crowd.
The loss ends Morgan’s Women’s World Championship reign at 148 days. She successfully defended the title twice during that run, including a victory over Vaquer on the September 7 episode of WWE RAW.
Vaquer is now a two-time WWE Women’s World Champion, and WWE choosing to pull the trigger on the title change in Chile made the moment even bigger. Lynch’s involvement also leaves plenty of questions about where things go next between herself, Morgan and the new champion.
