Jade Cargill has built her WWE career around her incredible strength, but there was a point when a neck injury made even lifting another wrestler a serious challenge. The WWE Superstar is now opening up about that setback and explaining why something as simple as doing pull-ups means so much more to her these days.

Speaking in a workout video published on the Women’s Health YouTube channel, Cargill revealed that she dealt with a neck injury approximately two years ago. She explained that a pinched muscle affected her ability to hold people up, which was especially difficult considering how much her wrestling style depends on strength.

“A move in the gym that I do that makes me feel strong is actually pull-ups. I had an injury about 2 years ago with my neck. I had a pinched muscle. I could barely hold people up. So, me being able to do that and continue at least to get to 10, to get to 20, it means the world to me these days.”

For someone whose signature offense involves lifting opponents into the air, that kind of physical limitation is a big deal. Cargill didn’t specify exactly when the injury happened or how long it affected her, but she made it clear that being able to perform those exercises again is something she doesn’t take for granted.

This also isn’t the first time Cargill has addressed problems with her neck. Back in April, Cargill shut down accusations that she used performance-enhancing drugs and mentioned that neck issues had affected her lifting.

Cargill also explained that she’s become more careful with her body as she gets older. Between WWE’s demanding schedule and the physical punishment that comes with wrestling, she now places greater importance on stretching and recovery.

“How I go about bulletproofing my body is stretching. It’s something that I really put an emphasis on and I really take my time in doing now as I’m getting older, especially in the sport that we do and we’re taking all these bumps.”

The WWE Superstar also admitted that maintaining her physique is currently more important than constantly pushing for heavier weights. She knows there isn’t a traditional offseason in WWE, and she’s not interested in risking an injury just to prove how much she can lift.

Cargill has made her strength one of the biggest parts of her presentation, but her latest comments show that maintaining it hasn’t always been easy. After struggling with a neck injury that affected her ability to lift people, being able to knock out pull-ups again is a personal victory she’s clearly proud of.

What do you think about Jade Cargill revealing how much her neck injury affected her strength? Does knowing what she dealt with change how you look at her power moves in WWE? Drop your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
