Hulk Hogan’s former accountant is now facing serious federal charges after allegedly stealing nearly $900,000 from a Florida “public figure” — and TMZ says the wrestling legend was the client involved.
According to TMZ, Melissia Gauthreaux has been charged with six counts of wire fraud tied to allegations that she embezzled more than $890,000 between 2017 and 2021 through her company, Accounting Resources and Management Services.
While Hogan is not officially named as the victim in the federal indictment itself, TMZ reported that sources confirmed Hogan employed Gauthreaux during that time period and that one of her responsibilities involved bookkeeping for the WWE Hall of Famer. The report immediately gave new context to growing speculation surrounding the unnamed “public figure” described throughout the federal filing.
According to the indictment, Gauthreaux allegedly had signatory authority over the victim’s financial accounts, allowing her to move money and sign documents on the client’s behalf. Federal prosecutors allege she used that access to divert funds without the victim’s consent over a multi-year period.
The case follows a lengthy FBI investigation and could carry massive penalties if prosecutors secure convictions on all counts. TMZ noted that Gauthreaux now faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each individual wire fraud charge.
The report comes only after Bubba the Love Sponge spent a lengthy segment on his show arguing that Hogan was the unnamed victim referenced throughout the indictment. During the broadcast, Bubba repeatedly claimed the details inside the filing pointed directly toward Hogan and even read portions of the indictment aloud while breaking down the allegations.
“Basically, this woman stole, I think, maybe nearly 0,000 from Hulk Hogan. This was Hulk Hogan’s bookkeeper.”
Bubba also focused heavily on language inside the indictment describing the victim as a Florida-based public figure connected to multiple business entities.
“Victim one was a public figure who resided in the Middle District of Florida. Victim one owned, operated, and controlled several business entities within the Middle District of Florida.Yeah. Hulk Hogan.”
Now, TMZ’s report appears to strongly connect Hogan to the case for the first time through sourcing tied directly to Gauthreaux’s employment history. The allegations themselves remain extremely serious, especially given claims that the accused had direct control over financial accounts belonging to one of wrestling’s most recognizable names.
Hogan, who passed away last summer after suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater Beach home, has not been publicly identified by federal authorities as the victim in the case.
Do you think more details about Hulk Hogan’s connection to this federal case will eventually become public, or will the victim remain officially unnamed throughout the proceedings? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
