Hulk Hogan’s death was ruled natural, but the bodycam footage from his final emergency call is now raising a tough question — what was really happening before paramedics got there?
According to bodycam footage obtained by Law&Crime Network, occupational therapist Justin McCamey said Hogan was not breathing when he checked him. McCamey said Hogan’s wife came in, they realized how bad it was, called 911, got Hogan to the floor, and compressions started.
“No rise and fall of the chest. Try to get pulse. Try to get blood pressure. Nothing. She came in. Realized it together. Really called 911. Down to the floor. He started compressions. And that’s but basically he wasn’t breathing. When I saw it, I didn’t believe it cuz he’s such a big guy. So, getting a pulse, getting all that stuff is sometimes difficult.”
Then a paramedic gave a very different read on the CPR timeline. The responder said Hogan was already on the floor near a chair when he got upstairs. He also said McCamey claimed CPR had already been going on for eight minutes.
“When I walked into the room, he was on the floor next to a chair. The therapist, the guy in the room with the scrubs, said he was doing CPR for 8 minutes. He was not doing CPR for 8 minutes.”
“Because when I started CPR, I’m the one that broke his ribs. If he was doing CPR, he was doing poor CPR.”
That is the part people are going to notice. Broken ribs can happen during strong CPR, and the paramedic seemed to believe that if CPR had really been happening before he arrived, it was not being done effectively.
The medic also said responders thought they might still have to move Hogan from his chair to the floor, based on the notes and radio traffic. Instead, Hogan was already on the ground when they arrived.
“I think on the radio they said they were having trouble getting him out of the chair to the floor. So, we were thinking we were going to have to get him on the ground, but he was on the ground when we got there.”
The official ruling has not changed. Clearwater Police classified Hogan’s death as an attended natural death from cardiac arrest after a long review, and investigators found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
Still, the footage adds a rough new detail to Hogan’s final moments. One person at the scene said CPR had started before paramedics arrived. One paramedic questioned that hard. The case is closed, but that timeline is now getting a lot more attention.
