Bleacher Report handed Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY a C+ for WWE SummerSlam Night One, and wrestling fans immediately treated the grade like a bad joke.
Morgan and SKY opened the show with a fast-paced Women’s World Championship match that saw both women trade near falls, take the fight outside and keep the crowd hot before Morgan retained. Bleacher Report still gave the match one of the lowest grades on the card while handing B+ marks to CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes and Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar.
That didn’t sit well with viewers who believed Morgan and SKY had one of the strongest matches of the entire night. One fan argued the result must have influenced the grade because the match itself delivered.
“The only reason IYO vs. Liv got a C+ has to be because of who won, because that match was match of the night.”
Another fan didn’t bother trying to make sense of it and went straight after the grading.
“What the f**? IYO and Liv a C+? Bleacher Report has got to stop grading wrestling.”*
The backlash kept rolling in, with fans accusing the outlet of completely disrespecting both women.
“IYO and Liv getting disrespected to this degree should be a felony.”
Another viewer said the match was closer to a B+ and called it a strong way to open the show.
“Bleacher Report has been awful with rankings for both WWE and AEW. How does Liv and IYO get a C+? Granted, I wish IYO went over, but this was definitely like a B+ match and a good opener to the card.”
Some fans used the grade as proof that Bleacher Report’s ratings shouldn’t be taken seriously.
“Bleacher Report giving IYO and Liv a C+ tells me everything I need to know.”
Others flat-out called it the best match of SummerSlam Night One.
“IYO and Liv was the best match of the night. What the f**?”*
One fan acknowledged that match grades are subjective but still said the C+ missed the mark badly.
“No shade to whoever graded these matches because that’s their opinion, but this is an example of why you watch things yourself. IYO vs. Liv was much better than a C+, in my opinion.”
Bleacher Report gave SummerSlam Night One an overall C+, but most of the anger landed on the Women’s World Championship opener. Other outlets graded Morgan vs. SKY much higher, only adding more fuel to the reaction. The match may not have earned much love from Bleacher Report, but the response made one thing clear: plenty of viewers thought Liv Morgan and IYO SKY deserved far better than a C+.
