The first night of WWE SummerSlam 2026 featured a major Women’s World Championship battle as Liv Morgan defended her title against Iyo Sky. Both showed up at the biggest party of the summer with full intention of walking out as champions, and they also had a lot to prove.

The rivalry came together during the 2026 Queen of the Ring tournament. Despite already holding the Women’s World Championship, Morgan entered the field with hopes of winning the WWE Women’s Championship and becoming a double world champion. Instead, she ran into Iyo Sky in the tournament finals at Night of Champions, where she picked Liv Morgan as her SummerSlam opponent.

After punching her ticket to SummerSlam, Sky chose to challenge Morgan for the Women’s World Championship rather than pursue the SmackDown title. After that, the two have engaged in a cat-and-mouse game on RAW, but the running was over at SummerSlam.

This match kicked off SummerSlam 2026’s Saturday show. Liv Morgan and IYO Sky traded moves and near falls, taking the action to the outside of the ring as well. Morgan’s Judgment Day sisters, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, made their way down to the ring eventually to help her out. However, IYO Sky flattened them with a dive to the outside.

The match kept going as Liv Morgan hit two of her finishers, even though IYO Sky didn’t go down without a fight. In the end, Morgan scored a clean pinfall to retain her Women’s World Title at the biggest party of the summer.

What’s your take on the Women’s World Title match at SummerSlam? Do you believe that Liv Morgan and IYO Sky are both future WWE Hall of Famers? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
