Giulia barely got started, and then it was over. The former NXT Women’s Champion walked into the July 31 episode of WWE SmackDown needing one win to punch her ticket to SummerSlam. Instead, Lash Legend ran through her in roughly two minutes, ending the match almost as quickly as it began.
Before WWE could even move on to the next segment, social media had already turned into a war zone. Fans weren’t disappointed; they were furious. One of the first reactions summed up exactly how a lot of people were feeling.
“Why did yall job out Giulia? Terrible booking.”
That was only the beginning. As more fans saw the finish, the backlash snowballed, with many questioning how someone presented as one of WWE’s biggest signings could be flattened so quickly on the final SmackDown before SummerSlam.
“The disrespect for Giulia is f***** insane. Book her better, or send her back to HBK — who actually knew her worth. This s*** getting annoying.”
Others weren’t interested in blaming Lash Legend. They blamed the people writing the show, making it clear that the entire creative team should be fired for failing Giulia.
“Creative team should be fired for this 👎 Guilia deserves better.”
Another fan couldn’t understand the logic behind the booking at all: “Remember folks. Don’t hate creative. In what world should Lash Legend beat Guilia? What garbage.” Then the anger found its way to the top. One furious fan aimed their frustration directly at Triple H, unloading after watching Giulia’s loss.
“F*** YOU F***ALL OF YOU F*** BALD A**HOLE AND EVERYONE I ALL HATE YOU SO MUCH HOW CAN YOU FUMBLE SO MANY GOOD TALENT LIKE JUST F*** YOU.”
Lost in all the outrage was the actual result. Lash Legend is officially heading to SummerSlam, where she’ll join Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green in the Women’s Interim Championship Ladder Match.
But that’s not what fans were talking about. Instead, one of WWE’s most highly regarded recent signings was beaten in about two minutes… and by the time SmackDown ended, that finish had become one of the biggest talking points of the entire night.
