The July 31 episode of WWE SmackDown rolled into Green Bay, Wisconsin on the night before SummerSlam. The biggest party of the summer still had an opening in the women’s ladder match, which needed to be filled.
With Rhea Ripley unable to defend the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam 2026, WWE announced a five-woman ladder match to crown an interim champion. Four competitors have already secured their spots in the match. Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, and Chelsea Green are all set to compete for the title opportunity.
The final spot was decided during the go-home episode of SmackDown, where Giulia took on Lash Legend in a qualifying match. Fans waited for this match, but it was a short one.
After a hard-fought match that was more of a squash than anything, Lash Legend pulled off the big win. Now she is on her way to SummerSlam, and she will certainly add an unexpected element to the show match.
We will have to see who becomes the Interim Women’s Champion at SummerSlam. Odds are, Rhea Ripley will be back as soon as she can to put their championship reign to the test.
