Instead of celebrating WWE’s latest SummerSlam match announcement, fans flooded Triple H’s social media with one complaint: where is Carmelo Hayes?
Considering Hayes was right in the middle of the rivalry when Corbin returned to WWE earlier this month, many expected him to factor into the biggest show of the summer. Instead, WWE moved forward with Trick vs. Corbin one-on-one, and fans immediately turned their frustration toward Triple H. One fan took to Twitter and blamed the decision for WWE’s recent struggles.
“That’s why the ratings are low, why the hell did you put Carmelo out!?”
Another couldn’t believe Hayes had once again been left watching from the sidelines: “So Carmelo Hayes misses WrestleMania, then SummerSlam too?” Others argued Hayes deserved far better than being written out of a feud he helped kick off: “So disrespectful to Carmelo Hayes.” One of the harsher reactions accused WWE of intentionally keeping Hayes away from the title picture.
“Why do you hate Carmelo Hayes so much? Are you worried he’s gonna outshine all of your industry plants?”
Another fan summed up the mood with a message directed straight at Triple H, making it clear that they feel this whole thing is just a joke at this point.
“You don’t deserve Carmelo Hayes. The fact u left him off WrestleMania and SummerSlam what a joke.”
The reaction comes just weeks after Corbin made his surprise WWE return by attacking both Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes, seemingly setting all three men on a collision course. After Corbin blindsided Trick again following Friday’s SmackDown, WWE officially locked in the SummerSlam title match—but Hayes’ absence from the announcement quickly became the bigger talking point.
Whether WWE has bigger plans for Hayes or has simply moved him out of the feud remains to be seen. For now, though, fans have made one thing clear: they don’t think Melo should be missing another major premium live event.
