Mike Santana still hasn’t officially announced his next move after his TNA exit—but behind the scenes, there’s growing confidence that it’s only a matter of time before he shows up in WWE.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE sources continue to expect Santana to join the company before the end of the summer, adding even more fuel to the speculation surrounding the former TNA World Champion’s future.
The report says Santana left a strong impression every time he appeared on NXT as part of WWE’s partnership with TNA, and those appearances continue to work in his favor. People inside WWE believe Santana already has something that’s difficult to manufacture—a genuine connection with the WWE audience.
“WWE sources continue to expect Mike Santana to join the company before the end of the summer. WrestleVotes Radio spoke with sources that pointed to the strong relationships that Santana built when he made appearances for NXT as a TNA star.”
That familiarity has only strengthened his standing inside the company. In fact, one source told WrestleVotes they’d be shocked if Santana’s arrival didn’t happen sooner rather than later.
“There’s an internal belief that Santana already has an authentic connection with the WWE Universe, which is something that isn’t easy to create. This has only strengthened his standing with the company. One source noted that it would be a surprise if Mike Santana didn’t arrive to the company relatively soon.”
This report comes a week after Santana appeared to tease his departure from TNA by posting nothing more than “7/15” on social media as his contract was nearing its expiration.
It also follows Santana’s brutal loss to Nic Nemeth at Slammiversary, where he dropped the TNA World Championship in a bloody main event before reports surfaced that he wasn’t expected to be part of TNA’s television tapings.
While nothing is guaranteed, the expectation behind the scenes appears to be getting stronger. If the latest report is accurate, Santana’s next chapter may not be a question of if he’ll arrive in WWE—but when.
