Eva Marie’s divorce is behind her, but getting to that point apparently cost her more than most people realize. The former WWE star says she gave up quite a bit during the split, but there was one thing she absolutely refused to lose — her name.

Speaking to Page Six, Eva revealed that her divorce from Jonathan Coyle was legally finalized around August 22, 2025. Even then, she still had some loose ends to clean up before she could really feel like that chapter was closed.

One of the biggest remaining pieces was the Texas home she previously shared with Jonathan. Once the house was sold and the remaining assets were sorted out, Eva said she finally had everything in place to move forward.

“It was finalized August 22nd, but then I was able to sell the house in Texas and get all those assets kind of dialed in.”

Eva didn’t reveal exactly what she gave up as part of the divorce, but she made it sound like the sacrifices were pretty significant. Whatever else was on the table, though, she wasn’t going to budge when it came to keeping the identity she’d built her career around.

“I walked away in my divorce giving a lot more than what people probably could imagine that I did, but I made sure that I fought for my name. That’s the one thing that God gave me and my parents did, so I wasn’t going to let anybody try to take that from me.”

Apparently, keeping the name wasn’t completely uncontested either. When asked whether Jonathan pushed back on it during the divorce, Eva admitted there was at least some resistance.

“Um, a little bit, you know, which I understand to a certain degree because Natalie Eva Marie is a brand, you know.”

That brand is obviously a valuable one considering Eva built it through WWE, television, acting, fitness and everything else she’s done over the years. Still, she sees the name as something much more personal than a business asset and wasn’t willing to let anyone else have control over it.

“God gave me the platform, gave me the opportunity with WWE, gave me the platform that I have today, which I’m so grateful for, that if God gave it to me, He’s the only one that can take it away, and nobody else can do that.”

Eva didn’t just keep using Natalie Eva Marie professionally after the divorce either. She went through the process of changing her Social Security information, driver’s license and other records after dropping her married surname, making Natalie Eva Marie her legal name.

“I go by Natalie Eva Marie. That is, like, my legal name. I got rid of my married name.”

The update comes nearly two years after Eva initially filed for divorce in December 2024 following roughly a decade of marriage. She previously explained in November 2025 that she kept the decision extremely private beforehand, only discussing it with her parents because she didn’t want outside opinions clouding something so personal.

Eva may have walked away from the marriage giving up more than she expected, but her name was apparently the one thing that wasn’t negotiable. Natalie Eva Marie is now legally hers, and she made sure the identity behind her WWE career stayed with her as she moved into the next chapter.
