AEW’s action figure future suddenly looks very shaky — because according to a new report, the entire AEW team at Jazwares was laid off Friday, and fans are now bracing for the possibility that the company’s wrestling figure line is finished.

This comes from wrestling figure reporter and collector Kyle Peterson, who called the situation the “worst news” possible for fans of the AEW Jazwares line. According to Peterson, he learned late Friday that the full AEW division connected to Jazwares was let go as part of company cuts.

“Let’s start off with the worst news that could possibly come through. If you’re a fan of AEW and Jazwares, late Friday I got word that, unfortunately, the entire AEW Jazwares team over there at Jazwares were laid off on Friday.”

Peterson pointed out that corporate layoffs typically happen on Fridays, comparing the situation to WWE-related job cuts fans have seen before. But he also stressed that the real damage affects the employees who suddenly lost their jobs.

“Very unfortunate news for us fans of AEW Jazwares, but even worse news for all those designers and that team over there at Jazwares having their income basically disappear overnight.”

For months, collectors have questioned whether the AEW figure line would continue, especially as rumors circulated about negotiations, slowing releases, and uncertainty surrounding the license itself. Peterson admitted he originally believed both sides were still trying to work something out behind the scenes.

“We’ve talked about it at length—ad nauseam, dare I say—here on the channel about Jazwares and AEW. Where does the license go? Are they still negotiating?”

But after hearing the entire team was reportedly removed, Peterson said the answer suddenly became obvious to him. He then flat-out suggested the AEW Jazwares relationship is essentially over.

“Well, by eliminating that entire team at Jazwares, I think the answer is out there. Jazwares’ AEW line is officially done—or for all intents and purposes, the relationship is done. If you let go of the team at Jazwares, there’s nobody to work on it anymore. So, it’s all but over at this point.”

At this stage, neither AEW nor Jazwares has officially confirmed the reported layoffs or the status of the toy license publicly. But if Peterson’s information is accurate, one of AEW’s biggest merchandise partnerships may have quietly collapsed behind the scenes. For collectors who’ve followed the line since AEW’s launch years, this could end up being a major blow to the company’s memorabilia business.

Do you think AEW should move its figure line to another toy company, or do you think the Jazwares partnership was already losing momentum? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
