El Hijo del Vikingo’s injury situation just took a more serious turn, because this is no longer just about a swollen knee and waiting on an MRI.

Vikingo revealed on Instagram that he is going into surgery tomorrow. He posted a photo of himself walking with a brace on his left leg and using a crutch, making it clear that his latest setback is serious enough to require medical attention. Vikingo kept the message emotional and thanked everyone who has supported him through it. He then confirmed the surgery news directly.

“Your way, God, not mine.

Family, Mr. HDLV is going into surgery tomorrow. Thank you for your support.

A grateful heart weighs less. “Gratitude.” Thank you for your support and kindness.@dorianroldanaaa @wwe
@luchalibreaaa @wwenxt

Thank you to my wife for always being there in good times and bad. I love you very much.@aleidis_oficial

Thanks to my brother for the support@wwefelixfernandezSay hello to me….”

This comes after WWE pulled his planned AAA Latin American Championship defense from the June 30 episode of NXT on The CW. Vikingo had been advertised to defend the title against E.K. Prosper, but the match never happened. Instead, WWE ran an angle where Keanu Carver was shown standing over Vikingo backstage before Robert Stone called for medical help.

Ringside News previously reported that Vikingo’s left knee was badly swollen and that he was in a brace while waiting on an MRI. Now, with Vikingo confirming surgery, it looks like WWE made the right call by pulling the match before things got worse.

The timing is brutal for Vikingo. He had just been getting more exposure through WWE’s working relationship with AAA, and a title defense on NXT would have put him in front of a much bigger television audience. Instead, he is now headed into surgery with no clear return date.

Ringside News will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
