El Hijo del Vikingo was set to head into Noche de Los Grandes with momentum, but now that situation has taken a serious turn as he might have suffered an injury.

Before being announced as the next challenger for the AAA Latin American Championship against El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., El Hijo del Vikingo stepped into the ring on the May 2 episode of Lucha Libre AAA on FOX, and things took a rough turn fast.

In the opening match of the night, Vikingo faced Mini Vikingo in a high-flying bout that quickly turned chaotic. The match stayed competitive throughout, but outside interference changed everything when Wagner Jr. got involved, helping Mini Vikingo pick up the win.

But the result wasn’t the biggest story. Late in the match, Vikingo delivered a brutal sequence — first clotheslining Mini Vikingo before hitting a dangerous top-rope Uranage that immediately looked off. Moments later, Vikingo was seen clutching his shoulder, clearly in pain.

From there, things escalated quickly. Fans in attendance noted that Vikingo stayed down, writhing in pain as officials rushed in. Medical staff threw up the X sign, a signal typically used for legitimate injuries, before assisting him out. He was later seen leaving with his arm secured in a tourniquet.

With Vikingo now visibly hurt just weeks before his scheduled title match, questions are already building about the status of that bout. AAA hasn’t issued an official update yet, but the situation doesn’t look good. Bottom line — this wasn’t just a tough match. It may have just changed the entire direction of Noche de Los Grandes.

Do you think AAA should still move forward with Vikingo vs. Wagner Jr. if he’s not 100%, or should they pivot to a new challenger? Let us know your thoughts.
