CM Punk’s WWE absence just became even more noticeable — because he has now been removed from advertising for the company’s upcoming European Summer Tour.
The Second City Saint is no longer being advertised for WWE’s European tour dates, and he has also been removed from some of the promotional material for June episodes of Monday Night RAW.
That’s a major change because Punk had previously been advertised for the full overseas run, which is scheduled to begin on May 28 in Liverpool, England and continue through the June 22 edition of RAW in London. As of now, Punk’s next currently advertised WWE appearance is the July 6 edition of RAW in his hometown of Chicago.
This comes after reports already indicated Punk would not appear on this week’s RAW in Knoxville. PWInsider also reported that Punk was not backstage at WWE Backlash despite heavy fan speculation linking him to Danhausen’s mystery partner storyline.
Punk became one of the biggest rumored names connected to the angle after commentary teased Danhausen’s eventual partner would be someone who “loves money,” immediately causing fans to reference Punk’s famous past comments. However, those rumors were largely shut down during a recent Self Made Session when Self Made Pro directly addressed Punk’s Backlash status:
“At the moment, as far as I’m aware, he’s not scheduled to be on Backlash. No.”
Punk has now been absent from WWE television since the April 20 edition of RAW, and the removal from the European tour advertising is only going to create even more questions about WWE’s current plans for him moving forward.
Bottom line: CM Punk already wasn’t expected for RAW or Backlash, but now his removal from WWE’s European Summer Tour advertising has made his status even more noticeable — especially with Chicago currently standing as his next officially promoted appearance.
