Danhausen’s search for a mystery partner has been getting a lot of attention — but one of the biggest rumored names may already be off the table, as CM Punk won’t be teaming up with him at Backlash.

After Danhausen publicly called out multiple WWE legends and stars to team with him at Backlash, speculation quickly picked up around CM Punk. The theory gained traction after commentary hinted that Danhausen’s partner would be someone who “loves money,” a line fans connected to Punk’s past remarks.

But according to a new report, that doesn’t appear to be the plan. Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro was asked directly about Punk’s status for Backlash — and the answer was pretty straightforward.

“At the moment, as far as I’m aware, he’s not scheduled to be on Backlash. No.”

Punk hasn’t been seen since the April 20 episode of WWE Raw, which only fueled the idea that he could return in a surprise role. Pairing him with Danhausen would have been a wild contrast — mixing Punk’s intensity with Danhausen’s comedic style — but based on what’s being said, that scenario doesn’t look likely right now.

That leaves Danhausen’s situation wide open again. With The Miz and Kit Wilson waiting at Backlash — and Nick Aldis making it clear the match only happens if a partner is secured — the focus now shifts back to who actually steps up.

Bottom line — CM Punk might have been a fun idea, but it doesn’t look like he’s part of the plan. Which means Danhausen still has a big decision to make, and not a lot of time to make it.
