Brie Bella finally revealed what sent her to the hospital after SummerSlam, and she is going to be out for a while.
Brie confirmed on Instagram that she broke her scapula during the match. She thanked everyone who reached out while she was in the hospital and admitted she still does not know how she managed to finish.
“Unfortunately, I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish.”
The injury happened when Jacy Jayne crashed into Brie with a cannonball near the steel ring steps. Brie immediately grabbed her right shoulder and had a much smaller role for the rest of the match.
The damage was serious enough to pull her from a scheduled SummerSlam TakeOver appearance in Minneapolis. Fans who purchased the affected photo opportunity were told she could no longer attend because of the injury.
Brie also made it clear that she is already thinking about her comeback. She joked that Buddy will be her assistant, Birdie will be her nurse and Bryan Danielson will handle the cooking while she recovers.
“If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I, it’s that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Brie Mode always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin.”
Brie Bella is officially sidelined, but she is not treating this like the end. The bigger question now is how long the broken scapula keeps her out and what WWE does with the Bella Twins’ new issue with Paige.
