Brie Bella’s WWE return may have come with a painful price, as the Hall of Famer appeared to injure her right shoulder during SummerSlam Night One.
Brie teamed with Nikki Bella and Paige against Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley, but the match quickly became secondary after Brie began showing obvious discomfort.
The possible injury appeared to happen when Jayne connected with a cannonball that drove Brie into the steel ring steps. Brie immediately grabbed her right shoulder, and the referee was seen speaking with her after the spot.
Brie continued through the match, but something clearly looked wrong during the post-match angle. After Fatal Influence picked up the victory, Brie and Nikki turned on Paige. Nikki carried most of the attack while Brie only delivered one kick before repeatedly clutching her shoulder and keeping her involvement limited. Her facial expression also showed clear discomfort as the angle played out.
There has been no confirmation from WWE on the severity of the injury or whether Brie will miss any time. However, the way she protected her shoulder and barely participated in the closing attack raised immediate concern.
The timing couldn’t be worse for The Bella Twins. Nikki had only just returned from an ankle injury before SummerSlam, and now Brie may be dealing with an injury of her own following their first major match back together. Brie managed to finish the match and complete the heel turn on Paige, but her condition now becomes the bigger story coming out of SummerSlam.
Do you think Brie Bella suffered a serious shoulder injury during the match, or was she simply selling the cannonball spot? Leave your feedback in the comments.
