Turns out WWE fans aren’t the only ones wondering why Carmelo Hayes isn’t headed to SummerSlam. Baron Corbin wants him there too.
After WWE officially announced Corbin vs. Trick Williams for SummerSlam, one fan jumped into the comments on Instagram with the question that’s been following the match ever since.
“WHAT ABOUT MELO???? WHAT ABOUT HIM????????”
Corbin didn’t dodge it. In fact, he completely agreed that Carmelo Hayes should be in the United States Title match at SummerSlam, making it a triple threat.
“he needs to be!”
That’s a pretty telling response considering Hayes has been part of this rivalry from the beginning. When Corbin made his shocking WWE return earlier this month, he attacked both Trick Williams and Hayes, making it look like all three men were on a collision course for SummerSlam. Instead, WWE announced the title match as a singles bout, leaving Hayes off the card entirely.
Fans immediately turned that into the real story. Triple H’s SummerSlam announcement was flooded with comments demanding Hayes be added to the match, with many pointing out that he’s now on track to miss both WrestleMania and SummerSlam despite being deeply involved in one of SmackDown’s biggest feuds.
Now those fans have found an unlikely ally. With Corbin himself now publicly backing the idea, the pressure is only getting louder for WWE to give Carmelo Hayes the SummerSlam spot many fans believe he has already earned. Whether Hayes gets added to the match remains to be seen.
