Sami Callihan’s TNA exit just got a whole lot uglier, because this was not some quiet goodbye where everyone smiled and moved on. The man thought he was getting a call about taking over creative, and instead, he found out he was done with the company.

Fightful Select reports that Callihan believed the call was going to be about heading up TNA creative. That alone is wild, but it gets worse for TNA because people inside the company were apparently pushing for him to get added to the creative team for months.

Sources on both the staff and roster sides said that Callihan was well liked as an agent and producer. Several members of the roster also wanted him involved creatively, which makes the timing of his firing even more awkward.

Callihan was not just hanging around backstage either. After retiring from in-ring work, he was producing matches, working as an agent, helping in the marketing department, and playing a big role in TNA’s merch comeback.

It was noted that Callihan designed and produced the majority of TNA merchandise over the last year. That means TNA did not just lose a former wrestler. They lost someone who had his hands on production, talent, marketing, and merchandise.

The timing is also brutal. Tommy Dreamer is already gone from TNA creative, Delirious is now the point person moving forward, and the company is dealing with a wave of exits that includes Tessa Blanchard, Steve Maclin, Myla Grace, and others.

Callihan is not done in wrestling. He will keep running Pro Wrestling Revolver, so he still has his own lane. Still, this is one rough look for TNA. A guy who thought he was about to get more responsibility, and who had people inside the company backing him for creative, ended up getting fired instead.

What do you think about Sami Callihan thinking he was getting a TNA creative job before finding out he was gone? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
