Austin Theory and Maxxine Dupri have already been getting people talking about just how convincing their WWE pairing has become, but Theory apparently knows exactly why they get under everyone’s skin. As far as he’s concerned, people can hate all they want — eventually they’re going to have to appreciate what he and Maxxine bring together.
Speaking on NotSam Wrestling, Theory discussed his pairing with Dupri after Sam Roberts pointed out how naturally their looks and personalities fit together as heels. Theory immediately leaned into the arrogance that has defined their on-screen relationship.
“It’s infuriating, right? Yeah, I think that’s what gets under the skin of people. Because it’s like, you look at us and you can hate on us, but we both have abs, we both have beautiful faces, you know, we just got it. So it’s one of those things where you’re like, you just gotta hate, but at some point you’re gonna have to really appreciate it. And I think that opportunity, when it’s there, we’re going to jump all over it and take it.”
Theory’s argument is basically that he and Dupri have everything people wish they had, which makes hating them pretty easy. It also fits perfectly with the obnoxiously confident dynamic the two have been playing up since Dupri turned on Alpha Academy and aligned herself with Theory.
Their chemistry has been getting attention outside WWE television too. A recent Instagram video showed Theory carrying Dupri on his shoulders while the two wore matching outfits and lip-synced together, and fans immediately started losing their minds over how comfortable the pair looked.
That came after another post-match celebration went viral over Theory’s hand placement while celebrating with Dupri. Despite all the online speculation, there has been nothing to suggest anything is happening between them outside WWE’s storyline.
For Theory, though, getting people annoyed enough to keep talking about them seems to be part of the fun. If he and Dupri can turn having abs, “beautiful faces” and a little too much confidence into heat, they’ve already found a pretty easy button to keep pressing.
