Austin Theory and Maxxine Dupri are supposed to be playing lovers on WWE television, but a resurfaced RAW clip has fans looking at their relationship a whole lot differently. Footage of Theory getting extremely hands-on with Maxxine during a post-match celebration blew up again on August 24, 2026, and suddenly people aren’t talking about whether the storyline is believable — they’re asking just how damn believable these two are trying to make it.
The clip shows Maxxine coming down from the ropes and straight into Theory’s arms before wrapping her legs around him. Theory catches her, Maxxine straddles him, and then his hands go directly onto her backside while he holds her up.
That’s the part social media couldn’t get past. One wrestling account reposted the footage and immediately questioned what WWE was doing with Theory and Maxxine, suggesting this thing might be heading somewhere even crazier.
“Austin Theory & Maxxine Dupri… WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? 👀😭 Something tells me this story is about to get VERY interesting. Someone is definitely going to need a lawyer…”
That clip caught fire, and the conversation got even crazier when another user brought Maxxine’s real-life marriage into it. The fan said he could understand pretending to be romantically involved for television, but Theory’s hand placement would be a whole different problem.
“I understand having to cosplay a relationship with my wife on TV. But if you spread my wife’s cheeks whilst holding her like this, I have no option but to shoot you.”
That response went nuclear, pulling around 1.4 million views, while the original conversation surrounding the footage climbed to roughly 2.4 million. And that was basically the starting gun. Fans immediately started questioning whether Theory and Maxxine were taking this whole on-screen relationship way further than WWE needed them to. One person flat-out asked whether the acting excuse still covered what everyone was watching.
“Exactly my point… Ohk I get it they are acting But isn’t this too much.”
Another fan went even further, saying the performance itself was starting to become more dramatic than the storyline.
“Exactly my point. I get that they’re acting, but come on… isn’t this taking the performance a little too far? At this point, the acting is starting to feel more dramatic than the actual situation.”
Then somebody brought up the obvious comparison — Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan. WWE has pushed Dom and Liv as an on-screen couple too, complete with kissing and physical affection, but one fan questioned whether Theory and Maxxine were operating under a completely different set of rules.
“Compare it to Liv and Dom, besides the obvious part of them kissing which is story wise, what is his hand placement on when he holds her up?”
Not everybody was ready to turn this into WWE’s version of a marriage scandal. One fan reminded everyone that Theory and Maxxine are professionals, and there is a pretty good chance both of them knew exactly what the celebration was going to look like before they ever walked through the curtain.
“Have yall ever considered that this is their idea and they rehearsed this?”
Another person had an even shorter message for everybody losing their minds.
“You over doing it.”
Others absolutely were not buying that argument. One fan ripped WWE for putting married performers into romantic storylines at all, calling the whole thing unnecessary.
“Completely unnecessary humiliation ritual. There’s so many unmarried talents sitting in catering that could easily fit these roles but WWE has a kink playing with married ppl’s lives.”
And then, because this is the internet, some people skipped right past wrestling entirely and started speculating about whether something could actually be happening between Theory and Maxxine away from the cameras. One comment simply read:
“If you think they haven’t already smashed… 👀”
There is zero evidence supporting that claim, but that’s exactly how far this conversation has gone. That’s the wild part about this entire situation. WWE wanted fans invested in Austin Theory and Maxxine Dupri as an on-screen couple, and they certainly got their wish. The problem is that fans are now watching these two so closely that every kiss, touch and celebration is being dissected frame-by-frame against the fact that Maxxine is married in real life.
Theory and Maxxine aren’t just convincing people they’re a WWE couple anymore. They’re convincing enough people that social media is now debating where the performance ends and real life begins — and one 19-second clip was apparently all it took to pour gasoline on the whole thing.
There is nothing showing Maxxine Dupri’s real-life marriage is actually in trouble, but WWE has clearly managed to get people talking about this relationship far beyond whatever is written on the RAW script.
