AEW has officially figured out what it’s doing with the World Trios Championship at All In, and the previously planned three-way has turned into something considerably bigger.
During the AEW All In media call, Tony Khan announced that the titles will be decided in a Trios Roulette Royale featuring seven teams. Trios will continue entering until only one trio—or members representing that trio—remain.
Khan also revealed almost the entire field. Hangman Page & Brodido, The Bang Bang Gang, The Dogs, The Demand, Death Riders and The Conglomeration are all in. The seventh spot is where things get interesting. Khan said the final entrant will be a wild card trio that he is currently working to bring in, leaving one surprise hanging over the match heading into All In.
The Trios Roulette Royale will take place on the AEW All In Buy-In, so the championship match will be available to watch for free before the main card begins. That finally clears up what AEW was doing after plans for the titles started changing just days before Wembley.
Speaking during a Self Made Session, Self Made Pro had previously reported that the original idea was a three-way involving The Demand, Swerve Strickland & The New Day, and Hangman Page, Brody King & Bandido. That setup was then dropped as AEW decided to bring more teams into the picture.
That report ended up being pretty close. AEW didn’t go with a Casino Trios match by name, but the Roulette Royale takes the same basic idea of teams entering as the match continues and cranks the original three-way all the way up to seven teams. Now six of those trios are known. The only question left is who Tony Khan is trying to bring in for that wild card spot.
