Aalyah Mysterio’s WWE journey has officially begun. After months of training and figuring out whether wrestling was really something she wanted to pursue, Rey Mysterio’s daughter has now started at the WWE Performance Center—and there’s already an interesting detail about the name she’s using.
According to PWInsider, Aalyah has officially started at the WWE Performance Center and is now listed on the brand’s internal roster. However, WWE currently has her listed under her real surname, Gutierrez, rather than Mysterio.
“Aaliyah Gutierrez, the 24-year old daughter of Rey Mysterio, has officially started at the WWE Performance Center and is now part of the brand’s internal roster. She is listed under her given name, not the Mysterio surname that her father and brother Dominik utilize.”
That makes this considerably more than the training visits she had been making previously. Back in July, it was reported that Aalyah was expected to begin working at the Performance Center after completing multiple training sessions there.
Rey had already revealed that his daughter spent two weeks going through the Monday-to-Friday schedule to see whether she actually enjoyed the grind. She did.
“I said, ‘Let’s try to set you up to go up there for about two weeks and see if you can wake up every day and do this Monday through Friday, weekends off, and then back again Monday through Friday.’ She did two weeks, and she really loved it.”
Aalyah’s road toward WWE started after she graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Human Biology. Rey had promised that once she finished school, he would take her into the ring and let her experience wrestling for herself.
“I said, ‘When you graduate, I’ll take you to the ring.’ She graduated in July of last year. U.C.S.D., Human Biology. She showed me the diploma, and it was, ‘Okay, I’m ready.’”
What started as that promise eventually turned into repeated trips to the Performance Center. Aalyah initially trained with Rey in October 2025 before returning for another two-week stint in February. By then, Rey said she was preparing to take the next step.
“I took her up in October of last year. She loved it. Sent her again this year in February for two weeks. She loved it, and now she’s getting ready to go up there and establish herself at the P.C.”
That next step has now happened. There’s no word yet on when Aalyah could make her television debut or whether Gutierrez will ultimately become her wrestling name. For now, that is simply how she is listed internally, while WWE begins developing another member of the Mysterio family.
Rey has already made history alongside Dominik as WWE’s first father-and-son Tag Team Champions before eventually wrestling against him at WrestleMania. He previously admitted that the possibility of Aalyah joining the business opens another door he never imagined would exist.
“To be able to have shared the ring with my son, become the first father-and-son Tag Team Champions in WWE, and then later feud against each other—but now with my daughter, it’s like, what can we do there? This is a historical moment.”
That possibility isn’t hypothetical anymore. Aalyah is officially at the WWE Performance Center, she’s on the internal roster—and, at least for now, WWE has Gutierrez written next to her name instead of Mysterio.
