WWE has held live events in India in the past and did so again on September 8th in Hyderabad, India. Jinder Mahal competed at the event, which many felt was a given. However, it appears that he wasn’t even supposed to compete at the event last year.
The WWE Superstar Spectacle was held at the G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad and it was truly a huge event for Indian fans, as they traveled from every corner of the country to make it for the event.
WWE India conducted a live Instagram session with Jinder Mahal to discuss recent events in his career. They revisited the Superstar Spectacle event in India in 2023, where Mahal shared that originally, he wasn’t slated to wrestle but requested a match.
The bout began as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against Indus Sher (Veer & Sanga) with Mahal at ringside and later turned into a six-man tag, adding Drew McIntyre to the mix. Mahal expressed his delight at the return to Hyderabad for WWE Superstar Spectacle, highlighting the special nature of the event and his involvement in the ring, concluding with the Naatu Naatu dance.
”The return to Hyderabad (for WWE Superstar Spectacle) this year was spectacular. At first, I wasn’t supposed to have a match. But, I asked for it. I knew that this was gonna be a special event that the Modern Day Maharaja has to compete in the ring so, we made it happen and what a way to top it off by doing Naatu Naatu (dance).”
Seth Rollins will be defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal on RAW next week. We will have to wait and see who will come out on top in the end.
