Rumor of Mercedes Mone Receiving a “Ridiculous” AEW Contract Proven Untrue

Mercedes Mone is currently the subject of a massive bidding war in the world of professional wrestling, as fans wonder if she will end up in WWE or make her debut in AEW. However, a rumor regarding Tony Khan offering a ludicrous amount of money has been put to rest.

Mone garnered attention with her sudden exit from WWE during May episode of Monday Night RAW in 2022, creating ripples within the wrestling community. Following her departure, she has dedicated her efforts to establishing her own brand and crafting a unique identity within the wrestling landscape.

Previous reports suggested that negotiations between Mercedes Mone and WWE for her return had been ongoing, with expectations that she might make a comeback at the Royal Rumble. However, these negotiations ultimately fell through a while ago.

Reports have also indicated that an AEW debut for Mercedes Mone is not out of the question right now. During Q&A session on PWInsider, Mike Johnson was asked about Mercedes Mone being offered $5 million for five years. Johnson made it clear that there is no truth to such rumors whatsoever.

”First off, I can’t confirm the reports so I can’t say that there is any truth to it.  There are a lot of bad “reporters” in the world today. 

With that said, I think that Mercedes is great, for sure.  I think if Tony will pay her that, she’d be crazy not to take it (if she can get it guaranteed even if AEW goes under).  From Tony’s perspective, I think it’s a ridiculous amount of money to spend on someone who will not instantly double your business, and honestly there may not be anyone out there that could do that.  But, as mentioned above Tony loves to collect wrestlers so it wouldn’t shock me if he did it.”

A WWE higher-up is confident they can secure Mercedes Mone. AEW has also confirmed negotiations with Mercedes Mone for her debut. There is also good reason why Mercedes Mone hasn’t signed with AEW yet. Only time will tell whether Mercedes Mone will eventually make her way to AEW.
