WWE Higher-Up Confident In Securing Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone gained recognition and star status in Japan, notably in promotions like NJPW and STARDOM. Despite her hiatus from WWE for well over a year, a higher-up at WWE is confident in her eventual return.

Mone made headlines with her abrupt departure from WWE during a May episode of Monday Night RAW in 2022, sending shockwaves through the wrestling community. Since leaving WWE, she has focused on building her own brand and cultivating a distinctive identity within the wrestling world.

Earlier reports indicated ongoing negotiations between Mercedes Mone and WWE for her return, raising expectations of a potential comeback at the Royal Rumble. However, it seems that these negotiations ultimately did not reach successful conclusion.

Interestingly enough there is still a lot of talk about Mone returning to WWE. According to PWInsider, it was reported that WWE would more than love to have Mone back in the company. It was further noted that one WWE higher-up is confident in securing Mercedes Mone.

”WWE sources noted that several factors, including change in ownership and the Paul Levesque creative regime firmly in place, set the stage for the two sides to reset their relationship and for Varnado to potentially return.  We are told the company would absolutely love to have her back and have made that clear – and that at least early discussions between the sides have happened.  

One WWE source felt confident about her eventual return as Sasha Banks, but cautioned that until a deal is signed, nothing is ever official.     Before anyone asks, we have not heard anything since in regard to her in AEW or New Japan, but one would think that AEW would want to swoop in and make a big offer to add some “oomph” to their first 2024 quarter.”  

Reports have also indicated that an AEW debut for Mercedes Mone is not out of the question right now. There is also good reason why Mercedes Mone hasn’t signed with AEW yet. Mone’s NJPW theme song was also removed from Spotify recently. We will have to wait and see what will become of Mercedes Mone in the end.
