John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and carried the company on his back throughout the PG era. He is now a worldwide name as people know him from all corners of the world. Cena had humble beginnings prior to making it big in WWE and now he reflected on an old video of a match, where he wore incredibly skimpy ring gear.

When John Cena debuted on the main roster in 2002, his future was uncertain in the company as many felt he didn’t have what it takes to make it in the business. It didn’t help his character had no depth to it.

While competing in OVW, John Cena wrestled under the gimmick of The Prototype. Before joining WWE’s developmental ground, Cena was The Prototype in the independent circuit as well.

The Leader of Cenation took to Twitter and shared a video from 2000. In the video, John Cena was seen wrestling as The Prototype. Cena also recounted how he was wearing very skimp ring gear, as he got it made from a place that made outfits for exotic dancers, so Cena was just happy the ring gear didn’t tear apart in the match. Cena reflected on the video and was glad at how far he had come.
