CM Punk’s iconic AEW run ended in disaster as the company ultimately fired him back in September. Despite his turbulent exit, CM Punk still had many backers in AEW, including FTR.

CM Punk and Jack Perry had been suspended following their backstage confrontation at AEW All In, which eventually led to Tony Khan firing CM Punk. Khan would then provide the reason behind Punk’s firing.

Following his AEW release, CM Punk hasn’t been mentioned on live television but has been shown in a couple of video packages. A fan recently asked Harwood about his favorite singles match of his career, to which he named Bryan Danielson, Will Ospreay, and Claudio Castagnoli.

Another fan would then reference Harwood’s match against Punk in March 2022 on Dynamite, claiming that Dax Harwood was banned from mentioning the Second City Saint. Harwood immediately responded to the fan by naming Pun, making it clear Punk was instrumental in FTR’s resurgence in 2022.

Lol, Dax still banned from saying CM Punk on twitter.

Oh s***! You’re right. CM Punk. That’s the match that started FTR’s whole turnaround in 2022.”

Britt Baker recently stated that CM Punk will always be part of AEW’s story after his firing. Dax Harwood will always have a lot of love and respect for CM Punk and that’s unlikely to ever change.
