CM Punk was fired from AEW, and he hasn’t arrived in another pro wrestling company yet. That won’t stop his name from churning in the rumor mill in a big way.

CM Punk’s next destination in the wrestling world is expected to generate significant attention, but it’s unlikely to be WWE. While surprises are not uncommon in pro wrestling, a return to WWE for the Second City Savior is not currently in the cards.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that positive fan response may change WWE’s outlook on bringing CM Punk back. The idea was that “CM PUNK” chants could change WWE’s idea about bringing him back into the company.

We had been privately told that fan response would be something that could change things from a negative, particularly not wanting for the crowd to loudly want him and not have it be delivered. We were also given the indication again this week that there’s nothing to the rumors, the feeling was a negative, but fan response can change that and nothing is ever not ever.

This idea sparked a lot of intrigue within the WWE Universe. Some fans latched onto the idea that WWE’s mind about CM Punk may change if they hear enough chants for him.

Ringside News reached out to confirm this story about CM Punk, and we asked whether enough fan chants would change Triple H’s mind about bringing Punk back. A tenured member of the team confirmed with us that WWE’s mentality is not one that can be changed by fan chants.

I don’t think that is WWE’s internal mentality at all.

There were CM Punk chants heard during WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. CM Punk chants also popped up during Shinsuke Nakamura vs Akira Tozawa’s match on RAW. That being said, WWE realizes that fans are chanting for CM Punk. That doesn’t mean WWE is any closer to inking a new deal with CM Punk.

Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE creative was never told anything about his return. That has not changed, despite the fact that CM Punk is having a lot of fun with the idea that he may make a return.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
