Nick Aldis entered the scene on WWE SmackDown this week, taking on the role of the brand’s new General Manager. He wasted no time in making a notable announcement, revealing Kevin Owens as the most recent addition to the SmackDown roster. Owens had been traded from RAW in exchange for Jey Uso.

Ringside News exclusively reported that Kevin Owens was intended to move to SmackDown when the trade angle with Jey Uso was first mentioned. That being said, they didn’t have all of those plans in place from the get-go.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the WWE team that Nick Aldis was not hired with an on-screen role in mind, but with all brands having an authority figure, “someone pitched Nick Aldis and Paul Levesque liked the idea.”

Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis have a lot in common. The two WWE producers are not only former NWA World Heavyweight Champions, but neither of them got in-ring runs with WWE like a lot of fans believed they deserved. Now, they are getting another opportunity in WWE as authority figures.

Nick Aldis was a good choice for SmackDown’s General Manager, and we will have to see what he does next. He already got to work booking a Women’s Title match for next week, and only time will tell what kind of boss he turns out to be.
