Tessa Blanchard may have found her next landing spot after her TNA exit. Two months after reports claimed MLW wasn’t in the picture, Court Bauer has now confirmed that’s changed—because the two sides are officially talking.
Appearing on Who’s The Champ?, the MLW founder addressed the speculation surrounding Blanchard and revealed she’s been on the company’s radar since becoming a free agent.
“She’s been someone that has been in the mix since she became a free agent and people have been wondering about her in MLW. I can confirm. We are in talks with Tessa.”
Bauer didn’t go as far as saying a deal has been reached. For now, talks are as much as he’s willing to confirm, although he made it clear MLW recognizes what Blanchard could bring to the promotion.
“That’s about all I can confirm at this point, but you know, she’s incredibly talented.”
That’s a pretty significant change from where things stood back in June. Following Blanchard’s departure from TNA, Fightful Select reported that MLW wasn’t a destination being discussed and that the promotion hadn’t been in contact with her for years.
“There were commenters mentioning MLW as a possibility, but we’re told as of now, they haven’t had contact with Blanchard and haven’t in years.”
Two months later, that door is clearly open. Blanchard became a free agent after TNA released her roughly halfway through what was reportedly a three-year contract. Her situation had become complicated by her work with CMLL, where she was receiving more dates, better money and creative opportunities she preferred.
She hasn’t been sitting around waiting for another promotion either. New Wrestling Evolution already announced Blanchard for its NWE Legends Tour 2026 across Spain and Italy in November.
“One of the most talked-about names in professional wrestling is coming to NWE. Tessa Blanchard joins the NWE Legends Tour 2026 and is ready to make an impact in front of fans across Spain and Italy.”
But MLW could represent something considerably bigger than another independent booking. What wasn’t even in the picture when Blanchard first left TNA has now progressed to direct negotiations with the company.
There’s no deal yet, and Bauer isn’t promising one. But Tessa Blanchard and MLW are officially talking—and after being ruled out only two months ago, that suddenly makes the promotion one of the most interesting possibilities for her next chapter.
