Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Under Armour are calling it quits after a decade together.
The longtime partnership between Under Armour and Johnson’s Project Rock training brand is coming to an end, with WWD revealing the split on Thursday. Johnson and his ex-wife and business partner, Dany Garcia, are now expected to look for a new manufacturer to handle Project Rock products. Under Armour will continue distributing Project Rock merchandise through October, giving both sides a little runway before the relationship officially wraps.
Project Rock first linked up with Under Armour in January 2016, and things got serious fast. The brand started rolling out performance training apparel the following year before launching the Project Rock 1 sneaker in 2018. Eight different Project Rock shoe models eventually came out during the partnership. Under Armour addressed the breakup in a statement to WWD, making it clear there’s no public bad blood and framing the move as part of a shift inside the company.
“After an impressive 10-year run, Under Armour and Dwayne Johnson are bringing our partnership to a natural conclusion. As we sharpen our focus and strengthen our core business, we’re creating a more unified expression in our train category.”
The company also thanked Johnson and his team for everything they built together over the past decade.
“We’re incredibly grateful to DJ and his entire team for their partnership, friendship, and everything we’ve built together over the past decade. We wish him and his team nothing but continued success.”
The Rock isn’t the only huge name to leave Under Armour lately either. Stephen Curry also exited the company in November 2025 before later signing an endorsement deal with Li-Ning in June. For Johnson, the Project Rock brand isn’t disappearing — it’s just looking for a new home. After 10 years under the Under Armour umbrella, The Rock and Garcia now have a chance to take the brand in a completely different direction with whoever signs on next.
